Yin Yang T-shirt

My son designed this. I sewed it together.
Two shirts, into one. I left the raw edges
on outside of the T for that grunge look.

Re-fashioned just-a-little-sexy- Tank Top

This is made from a large man's tank top purchased at Old Navy. I cut a slit down the back, cut out a shape of a tall triangle, then sewed armholes back together, then added a light blue tie embellishment. I love how it's
sexy, yet I can still wear a bra with it, and it covers my tummy.

Re-Fashioned Tangerine T-shirt

This is a T-shirt I re-fashioned from another large man's T purchased at Old Navy. I opened up the collar by cutting about an inch off all the way around. Cut an inch off the bottom, and slit the sleeves. I used the strips of fabric to thread the sleeves up corset-style, and also thread through the bodice to give it a feminine touch. I added little fabric flowers and embroidery so they look like they are "growing out of the pocket.

Butterfly and Ribbon Flower T-Shirt

Dollar Store Crafts fashion challenge, sponsored by Dollar Tree.

I cut a slit from the stop of the shoulder to 2 inches from the bottom of the extra cuff on sleeve to make the "peek-a-boo" sleeve. Leaving the cut edge un-hemmed  worked fine with this shirt, the fabric just rolls in.

At the Dollar Tree store, I purchased a very large plain blue t-shirt, some ribbon, and a foam butterfly shape. I purchased the larger size because I wanted to re-fashion my shirt so that it would  drape, and I wanted a little longer sleeve. I wear a 10, this is a 5X, cut down and re-fashioned. The pink butterflies are the result of using gel bleach on a foam stamp, and stamping the image. The flowers are hand sewn ribbons. I just love how the bleach faded into a pink color with the periwinkle blue.

Lay your shirt down flat. Decide how much you want to take it in. If it fits the way you want, skip this step.
I pinned where I wanted to cut before cutting.
I cut a 3inch strip off around the bottom , to make the extra length in the sleeves.

The store sells a huge assortment of foam shapes, but this one was actually the lid of a finger paint pot. I just used the lid for stamping.
If you want to  stamp with gel bleach, apply the gel bleach onto the stamp with a brush. When your image has faded to the shade you like, heat set it with an iron, or toss it in the dryer.
There are hundreds of posts (by other creative and talented people) on how to make a ribbon flower, so I will leave that part out of this post.

$3 Party Purse

This is a fully lined evening bag that I hand sewed. It's made from one table runner and 4 yards of ribbon, all purchased at Dollar Tree. Besides the adorable tassels, the nice thing about using this runner was the length, it's roomy enough to carry my dancing shoes! The black taffeta has a nice sheen to it as well.

Lay out the table runner flat and cut in 1/2.
Put right sides facing together and pin. Leave a 2-3" gap half way down. Do not sew gap together. this will be where the ribbon gets threaded through. Remember to pin up you tassels on the INSIDE so that when you flip it back (right side out) the tassels are there. You could also just cut them off and re-apply.
The shaded portion of the picture above becomes the liner of this bag.
Turn your bag right side out. (Pull it through the 2 inch gap you left). It will be very long, tuck the top half into the bottom half (a s if you are tucking a tube sock toe down towards the sock opening)
Your bag is now lined, and has two holes on the sides.
Cut 4 yards of ribbon. Put a large safety pin through the ends of 2 pieces and thread through the holes, all the way around and back out to the other side of your bag. Tie together. Repeat starting on the other side.
Pull ends, embellish as desired,
and TADA! Cute Party Purse.
