My blog is one year old this month! I am so grateful for all of the opportunities I have had to meet new crafters, teach classes, learn new techniques, create and "re-create".

Tiny Canvas Frame Accordion Album

This is a project I totally dove into, with items from My Craft Channel Kit of the Month (Echo Park paper and stickers, My Minds Eye embellishments, Miss Caroline baker's twine) and featuring our Grandson.
I had this nice block of uninterrupted quite time at home (rare) and lost  myself in color, paint, and sweet memories.

Inside view- see brass hinges and mini shadow box.

I think it's really cool how the 1/2 inch depth of the little canvas makes a tiny shadow box on the left side. The accordion album is tucked into the right side.

 Materials used;
Two 4x4in Artist Canvas (stretched over wood and pre-gesso primed)
Echo Park papers and embellishments
My Mind's Eye Wood button
3 ft Seam Binding
A bit of Muslin
Acrylic Paint
Green Crepe Paper
Tuxedo Black Memento Ink with Close-To-My-Heart Stamps (that I won from MCC!)
Plaid's Dimensional Magic
 A set of tiny brass hinges
 Quick Quotes chalk ink in Amaretto

If you want to try this at home, learn from my mistakes. The hinges are very difficult to put into the canvas, so ask a handy husband, and do this first, otherwise your album may get damaged while trying to do it afterward. Next time I will just hot glue ribbon as a hinge.
Paint the canvas LAST. It was hard to stamp or stick paper to canvas after the flat surface on the outside had been altered. Make your accordion fold mini album and stick it in first. Rubber , Acrylic Stamped Easter Eggs

At first I tried clear embossing and then dying the eggs, Craft Fail! The embossing powder did not stick to egg, it just melted off when I used the heat gun, and the heat gun made the eggs crack.
Soooo, I old fashioned dyed the eggs with the Paas dye, and then used Staz On ink to acrylic stamp them.
The Staz On was the ONLY ink that would dry and stay on the egg. The clear acrylic stamps were need because I had to kind of roll the inked stamp onto the egg very slowly and carefully and had to see where I was stamping when I double stamped a second color over the first.

Inside-out Thank You Card/Tag/Bookmarks

I feel so lucky and grateful this year, because I have many students, and many Thank you cards to write. I needed a quick and inexpensive card. I came up with this Inside-out Thank you card because I wrote the message on the envelope, and not the card. The card is a bookmark made from a tag, so it could also be hung from a tree or tacked on a bulletin board.

Supplies;
Box of 100   4  3/4 inch  x  2  3/8 inch  shipping tags from office max.
A stack of coin envelopes I had from a friend (available at office max)
1 Mr. Huey's color mask
Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spray in Primrose
Ribbon on hand
Border Punch on hand
Thank You  rubber stamp
Powder Puff Chalk Ink in Tahiti
Tape Runner (Xyron 5" if you have one)


First take the wires out of the tags and put them aside for later craft project. Lightly mist the tags on one side with Color Shine. I wish I was a better photographer and you could see the amazing shimmer that these Heidi Swapp mists have, The colors a beautiful! Try a bottle and you will be hooked.
Step two flip tags over and spray through a Mr. Huey's Mask. (It's a plastic sheet with a pattern cut into it and the color does not go where the plastic is laying. See Heidi Swapp's page for technique video)

Find a quote that you like, print and cut to fit tag. I always go to Quote Garden.com
I wish I had that 5" Xyron for all the sticking of quote to tags, but I just used a tape runner.   After tags are very dry, punch edge. I have an Oriental Trading border punch.  Chalk ink the bottom edge of tag. Cut ribbon in 6" strips and add to finish.
Stamp "Thank You" onto the outside of the coin envelopes and write your message.
Tuck tag into the coin envelope. If you want to mail these out, you must put the coin envelope in a standard size mailing envelope. I have a lot of students that I will see on a daily basis and will be handing these out in the coin envelopes.

Rubber Cafe Inspired 2012 Christmas Card

This adorable card was inspired by Melissa in a class she taught took at the Scrapbook Expo. (Please check out her blog and her fantastic store, "The Rubber Cafe" link on the right).  I used two stamps I purchased at her booth as well as her "Scrap Happy" Glue. I used foam squares, paper on-hand, Stickles glitter, and alcohol markers.

Again, this was a first for me coloring with blendable alcohol markers, what fun!




I really liked the idea of a stand-up scene card. I added a strip of very shiny silver paper and the reflection gives such a nice effect on the skating bunny, Warren.

Summer Scrapbook from Scratch

Tired of using the standard 12x12 inch scrapbook size, I designed my summer album from scratch. Every edge is ruffled or scalloped, and every page is bound to the other with gaffer's tape (purchased a bunch of it on "My Craft Channel" web site). The front and back covers are black chipboard.  

I used chalks, washi tape, inks, sprays, masks, glitter, sand, doilies, stones, ribbon and vellum... every thing in my  stash, no limits!
